Benefit Event

ODACA has promoted original art dolls, doll making, and original art doll collecting since 1976.

We hope you had a chance to see this first ever online Show and Benefit. If you missed it, please consider checking out the artists who are in this juried organization. You can find their work by going to the main website. If you wish to see more of a particular artist's work, you can contact them from there.

This event was a great success and we are thankful for the support of the members who donated the pieces and the community of doll lovers who came and made a selection.

About Us

Barbara Schoenoff

President

In 1976, Bess Fantl gathered with five doll artists to establish the Original Doll Artist Council of America (ODACA). These artists were united by a common bond – a love of dolls and creating them.  ODACA’s mission is to promote original doll artists, encourage doll makers everywhere, and share knowledge and expertise in doll making and collecting.  Today, members continue to share their original dolls and their knowledge so that many others will find the joy and fulfillment that these artists have found in creating original dolls.  In addition, a strong spirit of sharing has helped make the organization what it is, because ODACA is its members - both artists and patrons.

Each year ODACA artists, patrons, and UFDC members join in aday-long celebration known as ODACA Day.  Held at the annual United Federationof Doll Collectors (UFDC) national convention, this event helps support the operational needs of the organization and fulfil its mission.  It is always an exciting day of meeting new friends, sharing our love of dolls, and learning about the “artist’s journey” of one of our members.  ODACA wishes to thank UFDC for the strong support it has given the Council over the years.

We welcome those who make or collect art dolls to join the organization as artists and patrons.  Artists who seek to join ODACA are brought through a careful review process. The artists submit examples of their work and contemporaneous photos of a doll they are creating.

Finally, they attend ODACA Day, where their work is evaluated by an ODACA artist panel.  More about membership may be found at www.odaca.org/.

The story of ODACA, its artists, and the art dolls they so lovingly create will endure.  These pieces will survive to be the “finds” at auctions and doll shows, proudly displayed in the homes of present collectors, and will most certainly be treasures for future collectors to discover.
